November 19th
I have enjoyed the last few days even though they were full of hard times. But, the real hard times are gonna be from now on till November the 19th, paper submission deadline. It’s probably time for me to concentrate my skills on the paper other than anything else, except dancing of course
Best Translation Award (given by Cengiz)
I got the “Best Translation Award” from Cengiz for the following translation of a Turkish song. You can listen to them from my voice if you’d like.
Hatırla sevgilim
O mesut geceyi
Çamların altında
Verdiğin buseyi
Beni mesut ettin
Sen de olasın
Aşkımı inkar edersen
Allah’tan bulasın
Remember my dear
That happy night together
That kiss you gave to me
Under the willow tree
You made me very happy
May you be happy too
But if you deny my love to you
Then I am cursing you
Orhan Pamuk won the Nobel Prize for Literature
What I’m gonna say is not directly about the subject, but something people is misunderstanding.
The EU objects the 301st law in the Turkish constitution because:
“IT IS OPEN-ENDED, and thus can lead to different results for (and by) different people”.
Thus, the reason is not directly related to the freedom of speech. It is related to the fact that this freedom might be limited by this law if it is misused.
Just wanted to emphasize this issue.
For Orhan Pamuk, he is a good novelist. I read some of his books and liked. He didn’t won the prize just because of his contraversy, although it sure helped, as even said by the Nobel authorities.
Google Documents
I was expecting this to happen. Everything is moving online. In foreseeable future, all the things will be running online so that you can reach your information anywhere you like. Although, there will be privacy issues, it a very nice thing.
So, go check http://docs.google.com/ and see the online document and spreadsheet editor of Google. It’s free, so use it. You can reach your documents anywhere you like and you can convert them to the most useful file types. Give it a try.
Hipotez
Hayatta her şey üst üste geliyor. Güzel şeyler de, kötü şeyler de. İnişler, çıkışlar, zıplayışlar, düşüşler…
I really love the fact that life is full of surprises, new stuff, good and bad all together.
Önemli olan, zirvede bırakmak. Stop when you are at the summit.
